No doubt about Dub; Weekend Preview

Talented colt Dubious will look to keep his unbeaten record intact as he tackles a handicap for two-year-olds over 1000m at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The son of Not A Single Doubt kicked off his career impressively when he took out the first 2YO race of the season back in September at Randwick, the G3 Breeders Plate.

He’s had a short break since then and remained in Sydney for a couple of good trials to get him fit for his first-up assault and then the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Dubious looks well and is enjoying the conditions in Brisbane so we are hopeful he can continue his winning form.

Michael Walker has built a nice partnership with the horse already so he will retain the ride and they will jump from barrier nine.

Closer to home on Saturday we have Scrappy running in a 3YO Maiden Plate over 1200m at Colac.

She was unlucky last start and arguably could have won that race but she has trained on well and looks great in her coat so we are hopeful she will run well.

Fabian Alesci takes the ride from barrier one.

We also have Roland Garros backing up at Newcastle on Saturday in a BM64 over 2360m.

He went well last weekend and was unlucky not to win but we’ve opted to try and strike while the iron is still hot and keep him going while he’s racing well.

Louise Day claims three kilos which brings him down in the weights and we are hopeful he will go close.

On Sunday our most notable runner is last start winner Dream Big who runs in a BM58 over 2200m.

It’s hard to tell how young horses will go stepping into a handicap from their maiden but the Dream Ahead filly is a nice progressive staying type and we would be hopeful that she can hold her form and run well again.

Regan Bayliss takes the ride from barrier eight.
