Import on the hunt for elusive two in a row; Weekend Preview

Former European galloper Al Galayel will be looking for his second win in a row at Moonee Valley this Saturday in a handicap over 2040m.

There is no doubt that the son of Zoffany has talent, but he has struggled to string consecutive wins together.

He has been in work for a long time, but the team have worked out that he appreciates his runs being spaced out and that is what we’ve done this time around.

The plan will be to get some cover in the run, smother him up and challenge late.

Al Galayel will be ridden by Craig Williams again from barrier six and we think he will go close.

Earlier in the day at Moonee Valley, we have Three Legs In running in his second start over 1200m.

He is a professional little horse and will have taken improvement from his first run, so we expect him to run well.

Linda Meech will take the ride from barrier six.

In Sydney at Randwick, we have two-year-old colt Igniting making his debut over 1000.

The son of Starspangledbanner has trailed up well and the team have a big opinion of him.

He will need some luck from the draw, but we are hopeful he will run well.

Glyn Schofield rides from gate 11.

On Saturday at Stony Creek, we have Lots of Dosh running in a maiden over 1600m.

She ran well the other day but just got exposed a bit earlier than we would’ve liked in the home straight at Moe.

The Ocean Park filly looks well, and we’ve learnt a bit about her in her last couple of starts so that should hold her in good stead.

Damien Thornton takes the ride from barrier one.

Also a notable runner this week is Street Icon who is making her debut at Bairnsdale on Friday in a maiden over 1100m.

She is a Ken King bred half-sister to Bons Away and has taken some time to come to hand but has been professional in all her trials and looks like she could win first-up.

She will be ridden by Ben Allen from barrier five.
