Ideal conditions for import to strike; Weekend Preview

Imported galloper Mask of Time has got his ideal conditions this Saturday at Rosehill to take on the Group 3 1500m Doncaster Prelude.

He is a horse that needs a soft track and it looks like he will get it with not much sun predicted to dry up an already soft 7.

He was unlucky last start, just being headed at the post after fighting very hard against Fifty Stars.

If he holds his form, we think he will run a good race and earn himself a spot in the Doncaster next week.

Mask of Time will be ridden by Sam Clipperton from barrier four.

Earlier in the day at Rosehill we have Yogi running in the Group 1 Tancred Stakes over 2400m.

He has had a faultless preparation so far after winning first up and then running a good race in the Australian Cup.

His main target has always been the Sydney Cup, but this is a good lead-up race to that and we think he is up to the task.

He has some form on a soft track and has drawn well so we think he will run a good race and be primed for his Grand Final in a couple of weeks.

Craig Williams will take the ride from barrier three.

In Adelaide at Morphettville on Saturday we have Yulong Meteor running in the 1600m Laelia Stakes.

She hasn’t quite lived up to our early expectations yet but this seems like it could be her race.

She has drawn awkwardly so we will race her on the speed and hope she can outstay the rest of the field.

Dom Tourneur takes the ride from barrier nine.

Closer to home on Saturday, we have four runners at Bendigo with the first being Think Music in a 2200m handicap for three-year-olds.

We are having a throw at the stumps with her to see where she’s at, but she has drawn well and is coming off the back of a good win.

Teo Nugent, who knows her well, will take the ride from barrier one.

We then have Groot running in the 1000m Vobis Gold Rush for two-year-olds.

He ran very well in the Blue Diamond Prelude and has had a nice break since then.

He’s drawn a shocking barrier, but we are hopeful he can find some cover, only three wide, and swoop home late.

Linda Meech will take the ride from barrier 18.

Our next runner of the day at Bendigo is Lite’n In My Veins in the 1600m Golden Mile.

He ran okay first-up but has drawn poorly here so he will need some luck.

There isn’t much speed in the race so we will look to roll him forward and hope that he can hold off the field.

Jordan Childs rides from barrier 20.

Our final runner at Bendigo on Saturday is Last Week in a 1400m BM90 handicap.

He is looking for further but is going well, has drawn well and could run a cheeky race.

Harry Coffey will take the ride from barrier one.

On Sunday we have two runners at Sale with the first being Cedar Grande in a BM64 over 1717m.

She will need to improve on her first-up run but she has a 1.5kg claim and likes the wet which is what she should get if the weather forecast is correct.

Jess Eaton will ride from barrier nine.

Our final runner of the weekend is Gimme Strength in a 1400m BM70.

He is fit and well and this looks like a suitable race for him so we think he will run well.

Liam Riordan takes the ride from barrier one.
