Darci Brahma x Merle Park '17 filly

Summary: “REALLY GOOD CUT OF A HORSE”

Sire: Darci Brahma

Dam: Merle Park (Machiavellian)

Type: Yearling Filly

Description:

When the boss opens up with a line to describe a filly that he specced as being just a “really good cut of a horse” then it’s worth reading on further. An extremely well bought filly at the recent Karaka Sales for just NZ$75,000 Ciaron immediately loved her shape and style and was thrilled to have knocked down to his name.

A Champion 2 and 3 year-old in New Zealand as well as being crowned their Champion Sprinter, Darci Brahma is well known to these shores having plundered our juvenile racing riches by winning the (now named) Group 1 JJ Atkins over 1600m as well as returning as a 3 year-old to run 2nd in the Group 1 Australian Guineas to the legendary Apache Cat. Darci Brahma is a Group 1 sire of 10 individual Group 1 winners including emerging Hong Kong sprinting star DP Pin, Singapore Horse of the Year Super Easy and Kiwi Group 1 winners Artistic, Irish Fling, Risque, Julinksy Prince, Devise, Recite, etc. Darci Brahma is also the sire of 5 individual stakes winners in Australia including Group 1 Oaks winner Gust Of Wind, Darci Be Good, Risque, Marianne and Cauthen. His record of 18 black-type horses from 150 runners in Australian provides a return on starters an ultra-impressive 12%.

This filly has a nice head, a good girth is well balanced and naturally moves quite well. Out of a proven mare who has already produced the two time Group 2 winning Platinum Princess, this filly combines some of the best blood of the thoroughbred world that includes Danehill, Machiavellian, Nureyev and Mill Reef.
