D-day for Duib; Weekend Preview

It’s all systems go for gun colt Dubious’ Grand Final day in the Star Gold Coast $2M Magic Millions 2YO Classic over 1200m on Saturday.

Everything has gone to plan so far.

The son of Not a Single Doubt has worked well leading into the race and was drawn an almost perfect barrier by Eileen Maher earlier in the week.

It would be a great thrill for the team if we were to win the race and especially to do it for Aquis farm who have been a great supporter of our stable.

Dubious will be partnered by his regular rider and Aquis stable jockey Michael Walker and they will jump from barrier six.

At Flemington on Saturday we have two runners with the first being First Light Racing’s Bold Arial in a 1200m handicap.

It was a confidence-boosting win last start at Echuca and she will now step up to city level which we believe she is up to.

We are hopeful that the Flemington straight will be no problem for her and she has got a fair bit of experience under her belt now so we are hopeful she will run well.

Damian Lane takes the ride on Bold Arial from barrier eight.

We then have Naantali running in the Bluegrass Bar Trophy over 1400m.

She was arguably a bit disappointing when she stepped out at Flemington last start but she was beaten by some smart three-year-olds, so it was a better run than it looked.

We are hopeful she has improved off the back of that run and goes well on Saturday.

She will also be ridden by Damian Lane and they have drawn gate six.

In Sydney at Randwick, we have Star Fall running in a 1000m handicap.

After a poor barrier draw at the Gold Coast, the team have opted to run the Zoustar colt further south in Sydney in what looks to be a suitable race for him.

He is a progressive horse and his work has been good so we are hopeful he will go pretty close.

Star Fall will be ridden by Linda Meech who knows him well and they have drawn barrier three.
